47 years of innovation

Browse the history of Morrow Graphics

Morrow Graphics opens their doors at 3005 James Street in Eastwood, NY as a service bureau catering to architects and engineers utilizing a new process called xerography.

They quickly grow into the largest producer of architectural specification documents in the region.

A reputation is born...

Morrow Graphics purchases and renovates a three-story office building at 580 S. Salina Street in downtown Syracuse.

The installation of two brand new Xerox 9500's are also a highlight that year.

Morrow Graphics installs the first Xerox DocuTech Production Publisher for commercial use in New York State and becomes a pioneer in print-on-demand.

Morrow Graphics is selected by Xerox as an alpha-test site to develop a product called Extended Storage, a device that enabled unlimited storage capacity of the Xerox DocuTech.

Documents are scanned from hard-copy and digitally stored on an 8mm magnetic tape for later retrieval. By 1993 Morrow counts nearly 12,000 documents electronically stored on tape.

Morrow Graphics replaces a client's 15,000 square feet of warehouse space that housed their document inventory with a single, 9.1 GB optical drive.

The client reduces their document management and production costs by over $35,000 annually.

Morrow Graphics outgrows their building on S. Salina Street in downtown Syracuse. They purchase and renovate a building at 901 James Street, making it the second time the business would be located on that street.

Morrow Graphics is one of the first printers in the country to utilize on-line web-portals allowing their customers to access, manage, upload, proof, and order their documents. True Pioneers!!

Print-on-demand would not be possible without these important tools and Morrow Graphics had them first.

Morrow Graphics surpasses 25,000 active documents electronically archived on their servers. Each one ready to print-on-demand for their clients.

Morrow Graphics installs state-of-the-art print engines from Xerox's Nuvera line that utilize organic, emulsion aggregate toner. Print speeds are nearly 150 pages per minute, per device.

Morrow Graphics surpasses 40,000 active documents electronically archived on their servers. Each one ready to print-on-demand for their clients.

Morrow Graphics celebrates the 40th anniversary of its opening in 1974 in Eastwood.

Morrow Graphics installs state-of-the-art digital color presses with outstanding image quality and clear ink, among other cool features.

Morrow Graphics adds dual-engine, perfecting digital presses to their fleet of monochrome print devices. The machine is mated to a booklet-maker with the capacity to produce a saddle-stitched book of 224 pages.

We are committed to Print-On-Demand

"Thank you for standing by your service, it is very impressive! You have become an integral part of our team and allow us to provide our members with the materials  they need to have a positive experience in our classrooms across the state. We appreciate what you do and value our partnership with each of you."

"I had the great pleasure of working with Morrow Graphics for the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships on the Onondaga Nation in Syracuse.

It was a nine-month process for my company and we started using Morrow for all of our printing needs in the area from posters to extensive media kits. Morrow Graphics was always responsive, creative and professional. They also always presented us with great options and solutions to our challenges. A lot of our work was last minute and Morrow's team never missed a beat!

Great company and very importantly, James is a terrific Rotarian so you can count on his ethics and service. It is my pleasure to recommend him to everyone."

"I have had the pleasure of working closely with the team at Morrow Graphics for over 15 years and can say, without exception that they are a company anyone would be fortunate to team up with.

Their dedication to detail and to the needs of your company far exceeds that which you may ordinarily expect to encounter from any other company. They consistently go beyond what is expected of them to ensure that the job gets done and always on time.

Morrow Graphics has demonstrated its versatility by initially working with us on labels and then moving on to all our Marketing Materials. During Intersurgical’s relationship with Morrow Graphics they have gone above and beyond for us, time and time again. Without complaint they have put in many extra hours to bring our jobs to completion.

As the Marketing Administrator for Intersurgical Inc., I can honestly say that we have never had better customer service. I have had the chance to work closely with the entire team at Morrow and I can truly say their eye on detail is always apparent.  Their ability to work with other members of our team is another great asset. On numerous occasions I have called in with a last minute project, often times very complicated and they have done the job tirelessly and without complaint.

I am proud to have the privilege of working with the team at Morrow Graphics and highly recommend they be considered for any graphics or print jobs within your company."

"As an artist, the color and quality in my printing really matters. Morrow Graphics has been the most consistent, reliable and fastest printer I have ever worked with.  I am so pleased with the quality that I still source all of my printing through Morrow even though I have moved from the Syracuse area to North Carolina."

About thirty years ago, the printing industry as we knew it changed. Computer-driven, digital production printers were on the horizon and began to appear in the product lines of Xerox, Hewlett Packard, Kodak, and others. Not since Chester Carlson's invention of xerography had there been such an innovation in the printing industry.

In 1991, at the dawn of these advancements, we at Morrow Graphics made a deliberate commitment to Print-on-Demand and suddenly found ourselves on the cutting edge of a printing revolution.

By the following year, we invested in state-of-the-art printing equipment from Xerox, driven by digital front ends and computerized asset management tools. It was a huge risk.

As pioneers, we had to prove our firm grasp on the new technology before offering it to our clients. So, we educated them about the concept of printing on demand with digital technology and demonstrated the value and cost-effectiveness of just-in-time delivery.

Our commitment and risk paid off. Over the last 30 years, we have partnered with training organizations, manufacturers, publishers, universities, and others to produce their manuals, instruction guides, training documents, catalogs, and classroom text on-demand.
